About Lake Frederick

Lake Frederick is a very unique lake community in Virginia for several reasons. The community is divided into two sides. One side is a 55+ age restricted community and the other side is non-age restricted. There is a small enclave of 55+ homes on the non-age restricted side that were completed before the current builders and developers took over the community. As a development there are no lots for sale, interested buyers must either build with one of the builders or buy a resale home.

Trilogy by Shea Homes is developing the 55+ section, complete with a 36,000 sq ft clubhouse that features a restaurant, bar, and event areas that are open to the public. There is a private lower level only for 55+ residents that contains a poker room, interactive golf, kitchen, arts room and plenty of space to relax with friends and neighbors. The clubhouse sits overlooking the lake with a large veranda level and fire pit area for gatherings. There is an exclusive fitness center next door with indoor and outdoor pools for residents as well.

On the other side of the lake Ryan Homes is developing townhouses and single family homes. They are currently completing their own clubhouse, fitness center and pool to be ready spring 2018.

The lake is unique as it is owned by the state of Virginia. This means there are no waterfront homes as Virginia owns the 50 ft of land bordering the shoreline, and the lake is open for public use. Since only electric trolling motors and hand powered boats are allowed, the lake remains peaceful for residents and visitors alike. Lake Frederick is the only lake we feature here that does not have waterfront homes, but we believe the amenities are attractive to those looking for an active lifestyle as they age, or close proximity to Winchester and Front Royal.
