About Lake Louisa, Blue Ridge Shores
Lake Louisa, otherwise known as Blue Ridge Shores is a man-made lake that began in 1960 as a resort community. Originally part of Thomas Ellis' vast estate in the early 1800's, it was once the site of a mill, cobbler's shop, wheelwright, blacksmith shop, general store and a stage coach line. The original Blue Ridge Shores was created by Dr. I.E. Byrd who dreamed of a resort style community with a hotel, golf course, shopping and restaurants for vacationers. While his dreams didn't fully come to fruition, Lake Louisa has grown into a thriving lake community.
Blue Ridge Shores amenities include three beaches and playgrounds, a community center, marina, sports courts and walking trails.
